Take A Peak Inside This £75,000 Volkswagen Westfalia Camper

We all love the iconic Volkswagen Retro Bus; it’s what started the vandwellers movement in the first place, and without it we’d have no van life stories to talk about! But if you want a little more power and a lot more space then this Volkswagen Westfalia Camper might be of interest. It’s still got the iconic badge, but it’s also got a fully fitted bathroom. Volkswagen Westfalia Camper – Same Iconic Brand, Big New Ideas

Volkswagen Westfalia Camper - InsideMeet the Sven Hedin, a Volkswagen Westfalia Camper with a fact sheet as long and impressive as the Bayeux tapestry. It’s an incredible machine with secrets hidden in every corner, and we were lucky enough to have a look around one at the South West Motorhome Show in Shepton Mallet. As big VW fans it was great to tick this beauty off our wish list, and even better to know that the price tag isn’t out of our reach!

But enough about that, lets have a look inside and check out a few of the gadgets and van life essentials first hand!

What’s Inside the Volkswagen Westfalia Camper?

Volkswagen Westfalia Camper Exterior 1Ok, we’re not going to play around today. We’re getting straight into the inner workings of this Volkswagen Westfalia Camper. Prepare to disect the Sven Hedin (that’s the van, not a mountain that we just made up).

So the Sven Hedin is built on a VW Crafter, which means you’ve got a solid vehicle before you even start adding all of the cool extras. At 5.98 m (L) x 2.05 m (W) x 2.59 m (H) it’s a big camper, so you better be ok with your parking if you’re going to be using it in the city. This Volkswagen Westfalia Camper comes with a large transverse bed as standard, a 70l compressor fridge and a 4.8 kW diesel heater to keep your toes toasty. You’ll never be thirsty with 100 litres of fresh water on board, and you have the option of installing underfloor heating so you can stay warm whilst laying/practicing yoga/meditating (delete as necessary).Volkswagen Westfalia Camper - DrivingThe Model that we were lucky enough to look around also comes with the following gear (if you’re thinking that we might be leading up to an ‘it’s for sale’ post then SPOILER ALERT – scroll to the bottom).

-Heated grey water tank, insulation of rear doors and sliding door, isomat for rear doors and windscreen, additional convector in drivers cabin, underfloor heating, heated shower tray

Volkswagen Westfalia Camper - BathroomMud flaps, Park Pilots, Rear View Camera – we could go on all day long! It’s safe to say that we love this camper, but theres more to look at than just the gadgets. The Sven Hedin also makes clever use of space too. There’s overhead storage everywhere you look, and VW have even included push out handles to help minimise space on their drawers – a few inches can make all the difference (we’re not permitted to make smutty jokes, but if you have one then be sure to send it on to us).

Volkswagen Westfalia Camper - CompassWhat really makes us feel like school kids in a sweet shop is the awesome Westfalia compass sign near the back of the van. If you’re a modern day digital nomad travelling the globe then this sign should resonate with you like nothing else (apart from a free washing machine sign or get cheap donuts here – those are also valid signs). VW have spared no expense on making this camper look and feel amazing, and you certainly get a lot of camper for your money.
