Meet The Mercedes Camper Inspired By The Classic VW Bus

So its safe to say that we all like classic VW Campers. They’re timeless, they’re iconic, and they look freaking awesome. As classic motor fans, we always love a blast from the past, and this lovingly restored Mercedes Camper has blown our minds!

Talking of iconic and timeless, the Mercedes 319 Van has a lot of history behind it. During it’s 13 years in production, it featured as the blueprint for everything from pick up trucks to fire engines. It’s a sturdy vehicle that has been tried and tested many times; sounds like perfect camper material, right?

Don’t let the rustic paint job fool you. One very patient and skilled Van Lifer has given this mighty vehicle a new lease of life, and has made it into a nifty home on wheels. Lets take a closer look!

Mercedes Minibus - Solar

See that monstrous solar panel? Think you’ll need any more power after hooking that bad boy up….I think not! It’s free standing so you can always point it towards the sun, and can stow away neatly in the boot area.

What a badge!

The thing I like most about this Mercedes Camper is that the converter has kept a lot of the original fifties elements like the steering wheel and the dashboard (which looks a little bit something from the death star), but they’ve also mixed in some modern touches that help to make Van Life a little more comfortable.

Handy storage with a Coolbox inside….
Mercedes Camper - Bed
…and a comfy place to kick back with an ice cold beer.

This particular Mercedes Camper is set to be auctioned off later this month. Whilst your classic VW could cost you anything from around ยฃ6 – 10K depending on its current state, this little beauty has an estimate of $175,000 to $200,000 (ยฃ130,000 to ยฃ147,000)
