Lets start with the big guns. The DJI Mavic Pro is considered to be one of the top players in the Drone world, and it’s easy to see why.
The foldable Mavic Quadcopter Drone from DJI features a 4K camera on a 3-axis gimbal, and features WiFi connectivity to a distance of 300 metres, an Obstacle Avoidance system, Gesture Control, and the ability to track subjects.
The DJI Mavic Pro has a battery life of 27 mins, and a range of 4.2 miles – thats plenty of time to get your adventure selfies down before tea.
You can get this incredible drone from our good friends at Amazon for £975.37!
2. DJI SPARK
The DJI Spark is hailed as one of the best selfie drones on the market. It’s got a battery life of 16 mins, a WiFi range of 100 metres, and a transmitter range of 1.2 miles.
With a max camera resolution of 1080p/12 megapixels, you’re going to be able to see yourself crystal clear when the Spark gets back down to the ground.
The Spark is the smallest of the DJI range, but features all of their signature technologies, allowing you to seize the moment whenever you feel inspired. With intelligent flight control options, a mechanical gimbal, and a camera with incredible image quality, the Spark empowers you to push your creative boundaries. It’s also got face recognition, so it starts to hover once it recognises your features!
The propellor arms don’t fold, so it’s not as portable as some of the other machines, but as long as you package it carefully in transit then you can still take this drone anywhere with you.
You can purchase yours from Amazon today for just £447!
If you’re new to drones or just after something to take quirky selfies with now and again, then the Revell Controll C-Me might be more in your price range.
Like the DJI Spark further down the list, this is primarily a selfie drone. If you’re looking for something to take 4k swooping video dives then this isn’t what you need. It is, however, extremely good value for money and easy to use and control.
C-ME is super-compact—it fits perfectly in your back jean pocket, backpack, purse or jacket. It’s shorter than an iPhone 7, so you can take it with you on every adventure. And with instant social sharing at the touch of a button, it’s like everyone’s right there with you.
The one downside is that theres a shorter flying time of just 10 minutes, and you have to angle the camera before setting off, but they are both small inconveniences if you’re looking for a drone that doesn’t cost you the earth.
The C-ME costs £176.12, and you can grab yours off Amazon today!
The Yuneec Breeze is fitted with a high-quality 4K camera that can be swiveled vertically and a state-of-the-art Ambarella photo chipset. It lets you produce films and videos that are in no way inferior to those made on a premium action camera.
With its small size of just 24 cm diameter, this flying camera is a proven selfie drone that you can keep with you at any time. You don’t need a separate remote control unit – the camera is controlled easily and intuitively from your smartphone.
The weight of the Breeze is 385 g, and you can get a maximum flight time of up to 12 minutes. The Breeze also features Optical Flow GPS and IPS sensors, which enable it to remain highly stable in the air both indoors and outdoors, so it’s good for all of those first time flyers.
This is a great middle ground drone for people who want more functionality than the cheaper models, but don’t want to pay the earth for one of the DJI range.
You can buy the Yuneec Breeze from Amazon for the great price of £249!
5. GOPRO KARMA
The GoPro Karma is probably the best drone for fans of GoPros and extreme sports.
It’s got a battery life of 20 mins, a range of 1.8 miles and an impressive max camera resolution of 4K/12 megapixels. Thats definitely enough to catch yourself skydiving from the top of everest.
The Karma’s maximum range is just 3km, but I can’t see many situations that you’d need to go beyond this if I’m honest. The drone is collapsible, portable, and you can take the camera and gimbal off and attach into a holder for cinematic ground footage. Multi functional!
With excellent navigation and editing apps and a handheld image stabiliser included, the GoPro Karma is a great device for any adventurous van lifer. You can buy yours today from Amazon for £789!
